I might have mentioned this before: My edition of The Brothers Karamazov uses this painting, as you can see in the second picture, as a cover. And I love the detail (I assume it is intentional) of showing only three of the “students” in the cover, when they are actually four. The “fourth brother” is left out.

What a neat observation! I hadn’t noticed this before. I’d like to believe that’s intentional too.
